Lizzie Brown

Lizzie Brown received a Dual Degree in Painting and Printmaking and Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She became the owner of From The Core Art Studio in fall of 2021, where she pursues her creative endeavors, while sharing and fostering a love for art with youth. Currently Lizzie Brown has been displaying her work in galleries throughout Richmond, vending at various pop-up markets, and working in conjunction with the RVA Mending Walls Project.

Artist Statement

Considering the misconceptions centered around people of color, my work pulls from biblical and spiritual references to depict the beauty and resilience of African American men, women, and children. My works range from highly rendered portraits to portraits created through the use of color blocking in order to emphasize shape and form.
